SILAY City bet Miss Kareen Ty was crowned Lin-ay Sang Negros 2010 Friday night during a four-hour grand pageant at the Panaad Stadium in Bacolod City, witnessed by at least 25,000 people.
She was crowned by Miss Earth Philippines Sandra Seifert, a Negrense, and reigning Queen Vicki Mari Milagrosa Rushton, Lin-ay Sang Talisay City and Miss Western Visayas.
She was also chosen as Miss SM and Miss Energy Development Corp.
The crown is the second for Silay City and was won first by Miss Liezel Belonio, Lin-ay sang Negros 2005.
Crowned as the first Lin-ay Sang Negros was Miss Beatriz Lopez, in 1993, from the then Himamaylan town.
Also present were provincial officials led by Governor Isidro Zayco.
The pageant held open-court capped with colorful fireworks
